Welcome to The Mico University College website

Jamaica’s first museum of education, a collaborative venture with the Institute of Jamaica, was established at The Mico University College on March 31, 2004. Under the theme, “Winds of Change: the Evolution of Education in Jamaica,” it aims to feature the growth of education from the pre-emancipation era to the present. The concept behind its formation is that students especially need knowledge of the past in order to sustain the future. The Governor General, His Excellency, the Most Hon. Sir Howard Cooke declared the museum open.

♦ Dr. Packer appointed President of The Mico


Dr. Claude Packer has been appointed the first President of The Mico University College. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Packer was the Principal of The Mico University College. He served as Head of the Department of Economics at the University of the West Indies and adjunct faculty member of the Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi, India, and Nova Southeastern in the United States of America. He is a graduate of The Mico University College, the University of the West Indies, B.A. (Hons) Mathematics, Central Connecticut State University, M.Sc. Mathematics Education and holds a Master’s and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Mathematics from Cornell University... more►
